Volunteers Needed- Bayou Segnette Cypress Planting

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Jefferson Parish and Entergy Corporation invite you to participate in a cypress restoration project along Bayou Segnette in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The objective of the project is to increase habitat quality and promote a healthy cypress forest along the Bayou Segnette Waterway. The restored cypress forest will provide critical habit for wildlife and provide storm protection to adjacent marsh and camp sites. 1 This project is being completed through a partnership with Jefferson Parish, Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Entergy Corporation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Restore America's Estuaries, Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program, National Association of Countries Research Foundation, Shaw Coastal and Coca-Cola. Volunteers will plant over 3,000 pots of bald cypress over 3 days. 1 When: Friday, March 12th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (No longer accepting Volunteers for Friday) Saturday, March 13th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday, March 20th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm 1 Where: Bayou Segnette State Park 7777 Westbank Expressway Westwego, LA 70094 1
All planting equipment (gloves, shovels, dibbles, etc.) will be provided. Lunch and drinks will be provided to all volunteers by Shaw Coastal and Coca-cola. Please feel free to volunteer for one or more days. Additional information will be provided to volunteers after registration.
