The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana and Entergy Corporation invite you to participate in a forested wetland restoration maintenance project at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center was named one of the top five urban nature centers in the United States. The Nature Center suffered considerable damage from Hurricane Katrina which devastated its interpretive center, exhibits and an estimated 75 percent of the forest was destroyed. 1 This project is being completed through a partnership with Entergy Corporation, Restore America's Estuaries, Audubon Nature Institute, RPM Ecosystems, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. Volunteers will help maintain reforested areas by weeding around the 1200 trees planted this past winter trees and removing invasive Chinese Tallow. 1 When: Saturday, APril 10th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm 1 Where: Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, 10601 Dwyer Rd., New Orleans, East (behind Joe Brown Park) 1 All planting equipment (gloves, shovels, loppers, bug spray, etc.) and water will be provided. There may be mud and mosquitoes so please wear long pants and old shoes or boots. Personal clippers are also welcome. Additional information will be provided to volunteers after registration.
