CRCL is working with shrimpers, academics, and resource managers to develop a common understanding of how past environmental conditions correlate to shrimp productivity for Louisiana’s industry. Through a series of interviews, an analysis of existing data, and the process of qualitative coding, CRCL is creating a reference to improve the knowledge Louisiana’s Shrimp industry as it has changed in relation to the environment. As we plan for the future of the industry, having a base of knowledge that incorporates local, traditional knowledge from generations of fist-hand experience will support better decisions.
