Shell-A-Brating Good Times

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana celebrated our Oyster Shell Recycling Program and all of the spectacular restaurant partners that make it a success!

Our two-week Shell-A-Bration kicked off February 20th, and featured our restaurant partners at special restaurant event happy hours, bar crawls, brunches, and dinners.

Attendees collected commemorative oyster doubloons at each event, which they used to win raffle prizes at our Shell-A-Bration Finale held at the Urban South Brewery on March 8th.

Nearly 500 people attended the finale event, which featured appetizers from our partner restaurants, fresh oysters, live music, performances, raffles, and beer and crawfish available for sale. A portion of the sales were donated to CRCL.

“Tonight’s event is a prime example of New Orleans’ culture and the important role it plays in the restoration and protection of our coast,” said CRCL Restoration Program Director Dr. Deborah Abibou. “In this city, we celebrate everything, and what better to celebrate than people coming together to save our coast.”

The Shell-A-Bration also served as the release of our exciting new Oyster Shell Recycling Restaurant Guide. The guide and it’s corresponding Yelp! Bookmark Collection showcase each restaurant partner and the collective contribution we’re making to coastal restoration.
