Fishing For Data—Use Your Phone to Save the Coast!
We need you to become a fisherman scientist and help us collect real time environmental data while you are out enjoying our coast and inland estuaries.
Early in 2018, CRCL will release a new app, called Fishing for Data, for recreational and commercial fisherman that will be an important tool for collecting scientific data, and a great new way to record your own fishing information. You will be able to simply take a picture with your Apple or Android device and instantly know the environmental conditions at the time of your catch, what you caught and where you were when you snagged the big one.
The coast is changing and fishermen are on the front lines observing and dealing with that change. By downloading our Fishing for Data app, you will personally document your fishing activity and see the real-time environmental conditions, including water temperature and salinity, related to your catch. This fisherman-driven research will help us better understand the complicated interactions between environmental conditions and restoration efforts. By downloading our app, and becoming a fisherman scientist, you will help drive bold science based action to restore our coast.
Look for the new app in early 2018 in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Sign up to learn more at CRCL.org.
